Gracey Hemstreet became the first Canadian woman ever to win a UCI Junior Women’s Downhill World Cup event this weekend in Lourdes, France.

While the Junior Women’s category has been active at the UCI World Championships for decades, the category only received its own World Cup series in 2017.

Since then, the field has not seen much noise out of Canadian women. Then, in 2021, Gracey took home a fifth place in her first foray into World Cup action, and struck silver in Lenzerheide.
